In her middle age crisis, she saw in him the purity of angels and how even the stupidest person she knew succeeded in life and found happinness and love in her. She loved him for what he was.. Looked down upon herself thinking how she rejected this purest love from him... Made love to him and ran away hoping that he will find someone deserving of his love. Feeling damaged.. Her having a child to him was the proof... In the last stages of her life, she realizes that she was always meant to be. And late or not, Forrest deserved to be with the girl he always loved and whom she loved back as dearly.. The father of her child, the man of her life.
